This project proposal included a feasibility study investigating the viability of a semi-intensive beef feedlot system with pasture grazing combined with a intensive feedlot finishing unit in Sarawak.
It was intended that a Joint Venture would be established between the State Farmers Organisation and a Private Malaysian Business to lease the Karabungan Government Research Station.
Brahman and Brahman-cross weaners imported from Northern Australia were to be reared on improved pastures, then finished on a feedlot for two to three months prior to slaughter. A local business had intended to sell cut meats through its retail outlet in Sarawak and also supply live animals for Brunei.
